After I got home from work today, my sister and I hustled off to the grocery store before it closed early for Christmas Eve. Since we're urban dwellers we tend not to have any actual food hanging about the apartment, so we bought a lot of things to graze on throughout Christmas Day before we go out for Chinese. We got the basics; three types of cheese, olives, rosemary bread, crackers, pickled vegetables, smoked herring, crudités, champagne, and egg nog. We got into line about 15 minutes before the store closed, so there were long lines at every cash register as people bought the makings for their Christmas dinners.
The woman behind us bought a tin of Spam and a pack of menthols. However, perhaps in the spirit of the holiday, it was Turkey Spam.
Merry Christmas, ya'll.

Damn - I lose your phone # ONE TIME, and it is almost impossible to contact you, even with a blog that dates back to the beginning of the internet, or something. Yea, that's a good excuse. I'll stick with that one. Anyway, look me up some time. I'm now in Iowa City, working in biotech. Anyway, to show that I am willing to contribute to the spirit of this blog posting, I recently found out that there are many different kinds of Spam, and even generic Spam, which seems kind-of redundant. Perhaps the menthols were just flavoring, kinda like a smoggy candy cane.
